YouTube dynamic brand segments: make the segment clip
YouTube is testing brand segments inserted into up to 20 long-form videos. Make one clip, then trim and assemble variants of it with Sume Timeline.

YouTube says it is continuing to test dynamic brand segments, which let creators insert segments into up to 20 long-form videos at once. The post gives no length or format rules for the segment, so check YouTube's own requirements first. Whatever they are, you can make the clip once with Sume video generation and cut or assemble variants with video_trim and Timeline 1.0.
The feature description is from YouTube's blog; Sume details from the video, Timeline and trim docs, read 2026-10-01.
What does YouTube say about dynamic brand segments?
Only this: creators can seamlessly insert segments into up to 20 long-form videos simultaneously, target by region, and use a built-in shelf with a direct call-to-action button. It is described as something YouTube continues to test and evolve.
How do I make the segment clip?
Set duration on the video request: the docs call it integer seconds, validated against the serving family, and the accepted values depend on the model you choose. Check the catalog for the range before submitting. Then keep the resulting file as your master segment.
How do I get different lengths for different videos?
Trim the master. video_trim needs start and exactly one of end or duration (0.2 to 900 seconds), and the source must be a media.sume.com artifact. To add a branded lead-in or a music bed, use Timeline: video[].duration is the on-screen length (at least 0.2 s) and soundtrack is an optional bed with fade_out_seconds. For cutdown patterns, see cut a product video into feed cutdowns.
| Step | Tool | Control from the docs |
|---|---|---|
| Make the master | Video generation | duration in integer seconds, per model |
| Shorter variant | video_trim | start plus end or duration |
| Add a bed | Timeline soundtrack | Optional bed, fade_out_seconds up to 10 |
| Place on screen | Timeline video[] | duration at least 0.2 s |
Does Sume upload the segment to YouTube?
No. Sume makes and edits the file; the insertion is done inside YouTube's tools.
