Instagram API 100 posts per 24 hours: size your bulk queue
Instagram limits API-published posts to 100 in a moving 24-hour period, checked at content_publishing_limit. A Sume bulk queue also tops out at 100 items.

Each Instagram professional account may publish 100 posts a day through the API, measured over a moving 24 hours with a carousel counting once. Call GET /<IG_ID>/content_publishing_limit to see usage; the cap bites at media_publish. Sume's bulk queue also stops at 100 items, so one full queue equals one window (Meta page, read 2026-10-01).
How is the limit measured?
The window moves: it is the last 24 hours, not a calendar day. Meta says the check happens when you try to publish a media container, and recommends your own app also enforces it, especially for scheduled posts. The same page's carousel section also says accounts are limited to 50 published posts per 24 hours, so confirm your account's figure with content_publishing_limit before sizing a queue.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Limit | 100 API-published posts in a 24-hour moving period |
| Carousels | Count as a single post |
| Enforced on | POST /<IG_ID>/media_publish |
| Check usage | GET /<IG_ID>/content_publishing_limit |
How do I size a Sume queue to it?
Set items to at most 100 and concurrency between 1 and 16, per Bulk runs. Generation can finish well before you publish, so make the publisher the gate: read content_publishing_limit first and release only the remaining count. A carousel counts once, so ten slides cost one post.
What goes in the container call?
Pass the durable file URL from the finished child run. Per Structured output, expires_at is null for durable media.sume.com URLs. For captions or polls on a Reel, see the Reels add-on post.
