Facebook catalog: 20 extra images per product from one photo

Meta lets a catalog item carry up to 20 additional_image_link entries. Make extra angles from your real photo with input_references and n.

Meta's catalog reference lets an item carry up to 20 additional_image_link entries next to its main image_link. To fill them from one real photo, send that photo as an input_references URL to POST /v1/images and ask for n variations; n is 1 to 10, with a lower ceiling on some models.

Meta facts are from the Marketing API catalog reference, read 2026-10-01. Sume facts are from the Images API docs.

What is the limit and how do I fill it?

Twenty is a ceiling, not a target. A feed with four honest angles beats twenty near-copies, and Sume cannot see your product, so every generated angle is a claim to check. input_references take public HTTPS URLs, and openai/gpt-image-2.5 accepts up to 16 of them.

What does the request look like?

Each call returns a set for one item. Run it once per SKU, then put the results in the feed in the order you want shoppers to see them.

curl -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/images" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "openai/gpt-image-2.5",
    "prompt": "Same sneaker, same colors and logo, shown from the side, from the back and from above on a white background",
    "input_references": ["https://example.com/sneaker-front.jpg"],
    "aspect_ratio": "1:1",
    "n": 3,
    "output_format": "jpeg"
  }'

What do I check before publishing?

Open every angle next to the real product. Models can invent a logo, a seam or a second pocket, and a feed image that shows a feature the item lacks is a returns problem. Each image still has to meet the 500x500 and 8 MB rules in the image_link post. Confirm current limits on Meta's page.
