AI video generator refund policy: what you can get back
Two refunds: money back on a plan, which Sume's terms rule out except where law requires, and failed jobs, whose hold returns to your balance automatically.

An AI video generator refund can mean two things: money back on a subscription or credit purchase, which the tool's terms decide, and balance returned when a generation fails. On Sume, the terms say fees and consumed credits are non-refundable except where the law requires it or Sume expressly says otherwise, while a failed or canceled generation's reserved amount goes back to your balance on its own.
The plan side comes from Sume's Terms of Service (last updated August 10, 2026) and the pricing FAQ; the job side from the Usage docs. All were read on 2026-09-29. This reports what the pages say; it is not legal advice about consumer refund rights where you live.
Can I get a refund on an AI video subscription?
Read the billing section of the tool's terms before you pay, and look for three things: whether fees are refundable, whether unused credits can be cashed out, and what happens when you cancel mid-period.
Sume's terms answer all three in one section called "Billing, credits, and refunds":
- "Except where required by law or expressly stated by Sume, fees and consumed credits are non-refundable."
- Purchased credits "carry no cash value outside the Services".
- You can "manage or cancel a subscription from the dashboard". Self-serve plans bill on a recurring basis, so canceling stops future renewals; the terms don't describe it as a refund.
- Enterprise customers can sign an Order Form that sets its own billing terms, including "credit treatment", and that agreement controls where it conflicts.
| What you want back | What the page says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription fees | Non-refundable, except where required by law or expressly stated by Sume | Terms of Service |
| Credits you already used | Non-refundable, under the same clause | Terms of Service |
| Credits you bought | Apply to your account or organization balance and carry no cash value outside the Services | Terms of Service |
| A generation that fails or is canceled | refunded: reserved usage is released after failure or cancellation before capture | Usage docs |
| A generation that completes | captured: billable usage is captured after successful completion | Usage docs |
Can I get a refund for a subscription I forgot to cancel?
Sume's terms have no separate rule for a renewal you forgot to cancel, so the general clause above applies. Two steps still make sense:
- Cancel now from the Subscription page in the dashboard, so the next period doesn't renew. Self-serve plans use Stripe Checkout and the customer portal. The steps are in How to cancel an AI subscription.
- Ask anyway. The pricing FAQ gives support@sume.com for plan questions, and the Privacy Policy lists administering "billing or refunds where applicable" among the uses of your data. Neither page promises a refund.
Do failed AI video generations get refunded?
Yes, on Sume this happens automatically. The core workflow says generation can "reserve estimated USD-denominated usage, capture actual cost on success, and refund on failure or cancellation before capture". The usage ledger marks the released hold as refunded. The full reserve, capture and refund cycle is in Do failed AI video generations cost credits?.
A completed generation is captured and billed, even if you don't like the result. The terms' refund clause decides that case, not the job ledger.
What should I check before buying credits?
Because purchased credits "carry no cash value outside the Services", the size of the purchase is the decision that matters:
- When bought credits expire. On Sume, a purchased top-up expires 365 days after it is credited, in current code; see How do AI credits work?.
