To cancel an AI subscription, stop anything that can still spend (scheduled jobs, automations, API keys in use), then cancel the plan from the tool's billing or subscription page, and check what happens to your balance before the period ends. On Sume, you cancel from the Billing & subscription page in the dashboard; self-serve plans are managed through Stripe's customer portal.

The steps and outcomes come from Sume's Terms of Service (last updated August 10, 2026), Privacy Policy, the pricing FAQ, the Billing and credits docs and current billing code, read on 2026-09-29.

How do I cancel my AI subscription on Sume?

Do it in this order, so nothing keeps charging the balance after you decide to leave:

  • Pause or delete scheduled runs and automations from the Agents surface. The terms say they can "consume credits when you are not present", and that you are responsible for charges from agents and scheduled runs.
  • Revoke API keys you no longer use from the API keys page. Charges incurred by your API keys are yours too; see Exposed API key? Revoke it if one may have leaked.
  • Open Billing & subscription. The pricing FAQ says you "manage billing from the Subscription page in the dashboard", and that self-serve plans use Stripe Checkout and the customer portal. Cancel the plan there.
  • Download copies of any outputs you still need before you go.

Who can cancel a team subscription?

In a shared workspace, the terms say the organization's administrators "manage membership, roles, access, and billing". A member who is not an admin asks one to cancel. Enterprise services may be governed by a signed Order Form, whose terms on renewals and plan changes control where they differ.

What happens when you cancel a subscription?

On Sume, canceling ends the paid plan, not your account. This is what current code and the terms say about each part:

From Sume's Terms of Service, Billing and credits docs and billing code, read 2026-09-29.
Part of the accountWhat happens
The subscriptionBilling code records whether it is set to cancel at the end of the current period
Your plan afterwardsIn current code, once the paid subscription ends, the workspace gets an active Free entitlement again
Unused included usageIn current code, each billing period's included generation allotment expires at the end of that period
Top-ups you boughtIn current code, each top-up expires 365 days after it was credited
Scheduled runs and automationsThey can keep spending while you're away until you pause or delete them
Fees already paidNon-refundable, except where required by law or expressly stated by Sume

Do I get a refund if I cancel?

Not under the terms' general rule: fees and consumed credits are non-refundable except where the law requires it or Sume expressly says otherwise. Both kinds of refund, including the automatic one for failed jobs, are in AI video generator refund policy. How included usage and top-up expiry work in general is in How do AI credits work?.

Can I delete my account instead of just canceling?

Canceling and deleting are separate. The privacy policy says you may contact Sume to request access, correction, deletion or export of personal information, "subject to applicable law and security requirements". Cancel the plan first so no renewal is pending, then send the deletion request.

If the monthly fee is the reason you are leaving, Pay as you go AI video generator compares per-clip billing with credit plans.
