Wix Video trailer size: cut a short trailer with video trim

Wix lists trailers at up to 100 MB. Sume video trim cuts an exact-length clip with duration and output width, height and fps. It has no file-size setting.

Wix says a video trailer can be up to 100MB, and Sume has no file-size parameter to hit that number. What it does give you is a shorter, exact-length cut: POST /v1/video-trim with start and duration, plus an optional output of width, height and fps. A shorter, smaller-frame clip usually makes a smaller file, but you must check the size of the result yourself.

Wix numbers are from its supported-files page and Sume behavior from Video trim, both read 2026-10-01.

What does Wix say about trailer files?

Trailers can be in any of the formats that work for regular videos, with a size of up to 100MB. Regular videos are listed at 480x470 to 1920x1080 pixels and up to 15GB, and Wix transcodes uploads to MPEG4 with H.264.

How do I cut a trailer to an exact length?

Send the source (already on media.sume.com; import first with POST /v1/media-imports), a start, and exactly one of end or duration. The default precision is exact, a frame-accurate re-encode with libx264 and yuv420p. The result is a new MP4 and the source is untouched.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-trim \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: trailer-cut-001" \
  -d '{
    "video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/film.mp4",
    "start": 12,
    "duration": 20,
    "output": { "width": 1280, "height": 720, "fps": 30 }
  }'

Which levers change the file size?

Video trim fields that can affect output size, from the Sume docs, read 2026-10-01.
FieldRange in the docsNote
duration0.2 to 900 sFewer seconds, fewer bytes
output.width / height256 to 2160Only with precision: "exact"
output.fps24, 25, 30 or 60Omit to inherit the source
audiokeep or dropKept audio is remuxed as AAC

Can I set a bitrate or a target megabyte count?

No. The docs list no bitrate or size field, and requests carrying codec, crf or ffmpeg fields are refused with ffmpeg_fields_rejected. Cut, conform, download the result, and compare its size with the 100MB figure before you upload to Wix. If it is still too large, shorten duration or lower output and run again.

What does it cost?

The video trim page lists a public rate of $0.02 per job, with no provider inference; confirm the live figure in GET /v1/catalog. For related cutdown work, see cutting a product video into feed cutdowns.
