Shopify first sale in a day: a same-day product video plan
Shopify says nearly 10% of new shops sell within a day. A same-day plan with Sume: one hero image, one 4 to 30 second clip, then a poll, with no promises.

Shopify's August 13, 2026 post on culture and commerce says nearly 10% of new shops made a first sale within a day. It does not say media drove those sales, and Sume cannot promise any. What a same-day plan needs is two assets, a hero image and a short clip, and both are API calls that return in seconds to minutes.
Shopify facts are from its news post, read 2026-10-01. Sume facts are from the Images API and Videos API docs.
What does the same-day plan look like?
Start from a real photo of the item. Then make the two assets in order, because the clip can start from the finished hero image.
| Step | Call | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Hero image | POST /v1/images | Sync up to 30 s, else 202 and a job |
| 2. Clip | POST /v1/videos | seedance-2.5 4 to 30 s, async |
| 3. Poll | GET /v1/videos/{id} | File arrives in unsigned_urls |
| 4. Review | Your eyes | Match the real product |
What does the clip request look like?
Pass the hero image as first_frame so the clip begins on the product you will actually ship. Set callback_url to an HTTPS endpoint if you want a webhook instead of polling.
curl -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/videos" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"model": "seedance-2.5",
"prompt": "Slow push-in on the product, soft light, no text",
"frame_images": [
{
"type": "image_url",
"image_url": { "url": "https://example.com/hero.jpg" },
"frame_type": "first_frame"
}
],
"aspect_ratio": "9:16",
"resolution": "720p",
"duration": 6
}'What can go wrong on launch day?
A clip that changes the product is worse than no clip, so look at it before you upload. Check the format against Shopify's accepted types. Failed generations are not billed, so a retry costs time, not money. Confirm current claims on Shopify's page.
