When was Seedance 2.5 released, and where can you use it?

Seedance 2.5 was released on 2026-07-31. ByteDance Seed's launch post says it went live that day on Jimeng AI and Doubao Pro, and describes up to 30 seconds per generation, multiple connected shots and up to 50 references.
On the API side, the launch post said access was "coming soon via BytePlus ModelArk". As read 2026-09-29, BytePlus publishes a Seedance 2.5 tutorial for ModelArk, and Sume lists seedance-2.5 in its video catalog.
Where could people use Seedance 2.5 at launch?
The launch post names two places: Jimeng AI and Doubao Pro. It framed the API as a later step, so anyone who wanted to script generation on day one had no documented route from that page.
Is there an API now?
Two documented routes exist as read 2026-09-29. BytePlus documents Seedance 2.5 in its ModelArk tutorial, and Sume accepts seedance-2.5 in POST /v1/videos.
The Sume request is an async job: submit, poll GET /v1/videos/{id}, then download unsigned_urls[0]. Create a key at https://www.sume.com/dashboard/api-keys.

What is new compared with earlier Seedance versions?
The launch post lists the headline changes: 30-second generations with multi-round extension, connected shots, up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips as references, and timestamp-level editing.
