Meta's creator announcement says Instagram Live video ads become generally available on September 29, 2026. Sume does not run or buy a Live ad. What it can do is take the recording of a finished Live and cut the strongest minutes into short clips with POST /v1/video-trim, which costs $0.02 per job.

Meta facts are from its Business news post, read 2026-10-01. Sume facts are from Video trim. Whether a replay can be reused as an ad depends on your rights and the creator's permission, so settle that first.

What does video-trim take?

The source must be a media.sume.com clip of at most 1800 seconds, so import the replay with POST /v1/media-imports first. Send start plus exactly one of end or duration, where the cut is 0.2 to 900 seconds. precision is exact or keyframe, audio is keep or drop, and output can set width, height and fps.

How do I cut three clips?

Each cut is its own job, so send one request per moment. A Live that runs over 1800 seconds must be shortened before it can be a source. The request is async by default; poll the job and read the new file from GET /v1/jobs/{id}/result.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-trim \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: live-cut-001" \
  -d '{
    "video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/live.mp4",
    "start": 312,
    "duration": 20,
    "precision": "exact",
    "output": { "width": 1080, "height": 1920 }
  }'

What should I check?

Pick moments that make sense without the chat around them, and check that no unlicensed music plays in the clip. For the music side see the Reels audio post. Confirm Meta's current ad rules on its page.
