Demand Gen image max file size: 5 MB, JPG or PNG
Google lists Demand Gen images as .jpg or .png at up to 5 MB (logos 150 KB). Set output_format to jpeg or png on Sume and skip webp for these uploads.

Google's Demand Gen asset page lists images as .jpg or .png with a maximum file size of 5 MB. Logos are held to 150 KB. If you generate the image with Sume, set output_format to jpeg or png and leave webp out, since webp is not in Google's list.
Google's limits are from its asset specifications page, read 2026-09-30. Sume's parameters are from the image generation and Images API docs.
What are the Demand Gen image limits?
The page gives one size cap for square, horizontal, vertical 4:5 and vertical 9:16 images, and a separate smaller cap for logos.
| Asset | Supported format | Max file size | Sizes (min) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Image, square 1:1 | .jpg or .png | 5 MB | 300x300 |
| Image, horizontal 1.91:1 | .jpg or .png | 5 MB | 600x314 |
| Image, vertical 4:5 | .jpg or .png | 5 MB | 480x600 |
| Image, vertical 9:16 | .jpg or .png | 5 MB | 600x1067 |
| Logo, square 1:1 | .jpg or .png | 150 KB | 144x144 |
Which Sume output_format should I pick?
output_format accepts png, jpeg, jpg and webp; the docs say to prefer it over the deprecated format. For Demand Gen, choose jpeg or png. The default response is PNG ("media_type": "image/png"), and a webp request comes back as image/webp, a type the spec does not list.
The Sume docs do not state byte sizes per format, so check the downloaded file against the 5 MB cap before upload. If a PNG is over, request jpeg for that asset.
Which aspect ratio and quality should I request?
Set aspect_ratio to the placement you are filling, for example 4:5 for the vertical image or 1:1 for square; 4:5 is documented as Instagram portrait (1080x1350). The docs say to raise quality for finals, dense text or packaging. Ratio support varies per model, so confirm it in the model's catalog entry first.
What about the video side of Demand Gen?
Video limits are a separate page; see Demand Gen video ad specs. For ratio conversions, read vertical to landscape video enhancements.
