YouTube AI persona policy: the AI doctor example
YouTube says channels using AI personas as human experts on health, legal, finance or politics cannot monetize. An AI doctor is its first example.
The health example in YouTube's rule is an AI "doctor" providing medical diagnoses, health advice, or wellness remedies. Channels uploading that kind of persona content will not be allowed to monetize.
Source: YouTube's monetization policy page, read 2026-10-01. This post explains what an avatar video is in Sume. It gives no advice on how to stay monetized; check the policy and YouTube support for that.
What does the policy list?
The page marks its examples as not exhaustive.
| Policy element | Page wording |
|---|---|
| Health example | An AI "doctor" providing medical diagnoses, health advice, or wellness remedies |
| Stated consequence | Channels uploading this content will not be allowed to monetize |
What is a Sume avatar video?
Per the avatar video docs, avatar videos turn a ready avatar into a script-driven talking video. The result is a rendered clip from a script you write, with optional burned-in captions, not a live consultation. Because you author every word, you control whether it reads as medical advice.
Whether a given avatar clip counts as a persona presenting as a human expert is a question about what the video says and how it is presented, not about the tool.
What should a health channel check first?
Compare your script with the doctor example word by word: diagnoses, health advice, and wellness remedies are the named acts. For how the clip format works in a clinic setting, see AI avatar for healthcare patient education. This is not policy advice.
