White label AI video generator: build it on an API

Sume documents no white-label program, but its API lets you run AI video for your clients under your brand: one server key, per-run caps, files you host.

A white label AI video generator is one an agency or software company can offer under its own brand, so clients see the agency's product, not the vendor behind it. Sume's docs don't describe a white-label or reseller program. What they do describe gets you the same result: your server calls Sume's API with one key, your clients use only your product, and you deliver the finished files from your own storage.

The facts below come from the Embed a Format in your product cookbook, the Create a run and Format catalog docs, and the Sume Terms of Service, read on 2026-09-29. This is what those pages say, not legal advice.

What does Sume document for a white-label setup?

These are the points a buyer checks, with what the docs say about each:

From Embed a Format in your product, Create a run and the Format catalog, read 2026-09-29.
What you needWhat the docs say
Clients never see the vendor“Your customer never talks to Sume. Your server holds one Sume API key, runs Formats on their behalf.”
Logins for your clientsNone. Sume “has no per-end-user credential to hand out, and there is no browser-safe key.”
Your own recipeFork a catalog Format to change it; your copy is addressed as {your_handle}/{slug}.
Cost control per clientgeneration_spend_cap_usd per run, up to the platform maximum of $500; the cookbook sets it from the customer's plan.
Where Sume's name showsOutput files are durable media.sume.com URLs, public to anyone who has them.

How do I keep Sume's name out of what clients see?

  • Keep the key on your server. It never goes in client JavaScript or a mobile bundle, and your endpoint builds the Sume request itself rather than forwarding the browser's payload.
  • Decide who may run what. Sume authenticates you, not your client, so that check is your product's job.
  • Copy the files. Every result URL is on media.sume.com. The cookbook's rule is “Copy, or link, but decide”: copy into your own storage when the webhook arrives, before you mark the record ready, and serve from your domain.
  • The full server flow (idempotency keys, webhooks, failures) is in How to embed AI video generation in your product.

How do I bill my clients?

Sume bills you, not your clients. Runs are metered at the rates on the API pricing page, plus a 5.5% agent fee by default, and no reseller price list is published. Your price to clients is your own decision. Every run receipt reports usage.billable_amount_usd_micros (what the run spent) and usage.generation_spend_cap_usd_micros (its cap), which is what you need to charge each job back.

The pricing FAQ says larger organizations that need custom terms or invoice billing should choose Enterprise.

Can each client get its own workspace and bill?

Yes, if the client has its own Sume team workspace: you can share your team Format with it, and the client then runs it with its own team key and pays for its own runs. Share a Sume Format with another workspace covers the grant. In that setup the client has a Sume account and deals with Sume directly, so it is not white label in the strict sense; for a client who should never see Sume, keep the runs on your own key and bill them yourself.

What do Sume's terms say about outputs and branding?

  • Sume “does not claim ownership of generated outputs created for your account, and paid plans include commercial use as described on the pricing page.”
  • You are responsible for reviewing outputs before publication, distribution, or commercial use.
  • “Do not use the Services to mislead people about the origin, sponsorship, approval, or authenticity of generated media.” Selling under your brand is one question; telling clients how media was made is another, so check the terms for your case.
