Veo 3.1 only makes 16:9 and 9:16; which Sume video models add more

Google's Veo 3.1 supports 16:9 and 9:16. On Sume, Seedance, MiniMax and Wan add 4:3, 1:1 and 3:4, Kling adds 1:1, and Grok takes no ratio.

Google's Veo 3.1 page, read 2026-10-01, lists two aspect ratios: 16:9 (the default) and 9:16. Sume does not list Veo, but its Google video model, gemini-omni-flash-1.1, takes the same two ratios. If you need square, 4:3 or ultrawide, pick a different Sume model.

Which ratio does each Sume model accept?

Aspect ratios in Sume's video catalog, read 2026-10-01.

What happens if I send a ratio a model does not take?

Gemini Omni's edit mode rejects aspect_ratio outright, and Grok's row lists none. Ask GET /v1/video-router/models for supported_aspect_ratios before you submit. See the video docs.

How do I get a square clip?

Use a model that lists 1:1, such as kling-3.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/videos \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: square-001" \
  -d '{
    "model": "kling-3",
    "prompt": "A barista pours latte art, overhead shot",
    "duration": 5,
    "resolution": "1080p",
    "aspect_ratio": "1:1"
  }'
