sume jobs watch timed out: recover the job before you resubmit
A local wait that times out does not cancel a paid Sume job. Inspect it with jobs status, events and result, then download, instead of submitting again.

If a local wait times out, run sume jobs status <job_id> --agent --json before you submit anything again. The docs say to inspect the job before submitting another paid job, and to use job recovery commands instead of resubmitting when a process restarts or a local timeout occurs.
Everything here is from Jobs and media inputs and Generation workflows, read 2026-09-30.
Which recovery command answers what?
Every submit command returns or prints a job id, so keep it. The same helpers work for Avatar CLI submits and for Image, Video and Music jobs created through the Developer API.
| Command | Use |
|---|---|
| sume jobs status <job_id> --agent --json | Current state |
| sume jobs events <job_id> --agent --json | What happened so far |
| sume jobs result <job_id> --agent --json | Fetch only after completion |
| sume jobs watch <job_id> | Poll until terminal or timeout |
| sume jobs download <job_id> --output-dir ./out | Write completed media locally |
What does a watch timeout mean?
jobs watch polls until the job is terminal or the timeout is reached. A timeout ends your local waiting, and the docs do not say it changes the job. So check status; if it is still running, watch again.
sume jobs status job_123 --agent --json
sume jobs watch job_123
sume jobs result job_123 --agent --json
sume jobs download job_123 --output-dir ./outCan I cancel instead?
sume jobs cancel <job_id> --confirm-submit exists. Once generation has started the API answers 409 job_generation_already_started, so check status first rather than assuming the job can be stopped.
What should agents do?
Submit one bounded job first when testing, and recover existing jobs instead of blindly retrying paid commands. See Security.
