Submitting 20 avatar videos at once: what each Sume plan accepts

Sume accepts as many paid jobs as concurrency plus queue allows: 6 on Free, 24 on Pro, 48 on Startup, 120 on Scale. Past that a submit returns 429 queue_full.

Whether Sume takes 20 avatar video requests at once depends on your plan: accepted job capacity is concurrency plus queue, which is 6 on Free, 24 on Pro, 48 on Startup and 120 on Scale or Enterprise, using the docs' default table. Beyond that a submit fails with 429 queue_full; jobs above the processing limit wait as queued and are not errors. On Pro, 20 submitted jobs are accepted: 4 run and 16 wait. Synthesia's updates page mentions bulk download of up to 20 videos on 8/31/2026.

What does the plan table say?

The generation admission docs give processing concurrency and default queue capacity. The docs tell you to prefer the effective generation_limits.concurrency_limit field over the static table, since admin overrides can raise it.

Default limits, read 2026-09-30 from the Sume admission docs.

How do I submit a batch safely?

Give every job its own Idempotency-Key; reuse a key only for an exact retry. On a 429 queue_full, wait for jobs to finish and retry with the same key. See Generate avatar video for the body.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/avatar-1.0/talking-video \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: batch-item-007" \
  -d '{
    "avatar_handle": "product_host",
    "script": "Meet the new spring range. Tap the link to see every color.",
    "aspect_ratio": "9:16"
  }'

Does a top-up raise the limit?

No. The docs say generation concurrency is plan-only and prepaid top-ups do not raise it. The dashboard Concurrency tab shows your effective cap.
