Pinterest shows an "AI modified" label at the bottom left of the close-up of a Pin. It detects AI use from IPTC metadata and from classifiers, and it also accepts self-reports. If a label is wrong, you can contact Pinterest support to challenge it. This is from Pinterest Help, read 2026-10-01.

How does Pinterest decide to show the label?

Pinterest's Gen AI label signals, from Pinterest Help, read 2026-10-01.
SignalWhat Pinterest says
Label text"AI modified", bottom left on the close-up of a Pin
MetadataIPTC metadata is read
ClassifiersDetection also runs classifiers on the content
Self-reportReports are also used

Will my Sume image carry the label?

Assume it can. If a Pin is made with AI, plan for the label, because Pinterest's classifiers do not depend on you declaring it. Sume's docs say nothing about writing IPTC fields into a delivered image, so do not count on metadata that Sume has not documented, and inspect the file yourself.

The article does not say whether video Pins are covered, so this post sticks to images.

How do I request a Pin-shaped image?

Pinterest's usual image Pin is 2:3, and the Image API lists 2:3 among its normalized aspect ratios. A model only accepts the values its catalog descriptors list, so read supported_parameters from GET /v1/images/models first. The catalog descriptors list png, jpeg and webp for output_format, and n is 1 to 4 per request.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/images \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "sume/auto",
    "prompt": "A clean product shot on a plain background",
    "aspect_ratio": "2:3",
    "output_format": "png"
  }'

What do I do if the label is wrong?

Pinterest's page says to contact support. Keep the generation record and the source files that show how the image was made. Sume cannot change a label that Pinterest applied.

Where does the label show?

On the close-up of a Pin, bottom left, per Pinterest. It does not describe the feed grid. For specs on Pin size and ads, see the related posts.
