Maximum video length for Sume's media tools: 300, 900 or 1800 seconds

The length cap depends on the tool. Sume's video filter and video frames accept sources up to 300 seconds; video trim, audio detach and video inspect accept sources up to 1800 seconds; trim and detach also cap their output at 900 seconds; Timeline compose caps its output at 300 seconds. For filter, frames, trim and detach, a source over the cap is refused with the code in the table below.

What is the limit for each tool?

Most caps are on the source file, and some tools cap the output too. Where the docs list a length code, it differs per tool.

What do I do with a clip that is too long?

Cut it down first. Video trim takes a source up to 1800 seconds and returns a new file of up to 900 seconds, which is inside the range of the video filter and frames tools when you cut a piece of 300 seconds or less. For a long track, audio detach needs a range when the whole track is past 900 seconds, as its docs say.

Set start and either end or duration on the trim, then run the second tool on the file that comes back rather than on the original.

Does the length change the price?

Not in the docs for these tools. Filter, trim, compose and audio detach each list a per-job public rate, and the docs mark video frames and the video inspect probe as unbilled. The exception in this set is transcription on video inspect, which is billed per audio minute of the duration hint you send. Which limit hits first in a typical flow?

A common chain is trim, then filter, then something else. The trim cap of 900 seconds output already sits above the filter's 300-second source cap, so a long cut can pass trim and still fail the filter with output_duration_exceeded. Keep the trimmed piece at 300 seconds or less if it is going to the filter, frames or compose tools.
