An Etsy listing video may be 3 to 15 seconds long and up to 100 MB. Etsy's minimum resolution is 500 px, it calls at least 1080 px ideal, and the video plays without sound once it is on the listing. You can add two videos per listing.

The Etsy rules are quoted from Etsy's help page How to Add Listing Videos, read on 2026-09-29. The steps for making a clip come from Sume's Video Generation and Video trim docs, read the same day. For still images, see Etsy listing photo size.

What are Etsy's listing video requirements?

Etsy says it accepts "most common video formats" and lists the file types below. On shape, the page says only that "the video aspect ratio should be 2:1 or 1:2", and that a video recorded on any device will "most likely already be in a format that is accepted by the video tool".

From Etsy Help, How to Add Listing Videos, read 2026-09-29.

Do Etsy listing videos have sound?

No. Etsy's page says the video "will not contain any audio once uploaded to your listing". Music, a voiceover, or spoken product details will not reach the shopper, so show everything that matters in the picture.

How do I make an Etsy listing video from a product photo?

If you only have photos, an image-to-video model can animate one into a short clip. With Sume's POST /v1/videos, the photo goes in frame_images as the first_frame, so the clip opens on your real product. Product photo to video API walks through the full request, and Product logo warping in image-to-video covers keeping the item exact. The photo must be at a public HTTPS URL.

Pick settings that fit Etsy's page. seedance-2 lists durations of 4 to 15 whole seconds and a 1080p resolution. Set generate_audio to false, since Etsy drops the sound anyway. GET /v1/videos/models lists each model's durations, resolutions, and aspect ratios; no ratio in the docs' list is 2:1 or 1:2, so check how Etsy displays the clip before you publish.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/videos \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: etsy-mug-video-001" \
  -d '{
    "model": "seedance-2",
    "prompt": "Slow turn of the mug on a wooden table, soft daylight",
    "frame_images": [{
      "type": "image_url",
      "image_url": { "url": "https://example.com/mug.jpg" },
      "frame_type": "first_frame"
    }],
    "duration": 8,
    "resolution": "1080p",
    "aspect_ratio": "9:16",
    "generate_audio": false
  }'

How do I cut a longer clip down to 15 seconds?

Trim it. Some Sume models run past 15 seconds (seedance-2.5 and wan-3.0 accept up to 30). Sume's POST /v1/video-trim takes a clip already in your Sume workspace on media.sume.com, such as an earlier Sume job's output, and returns a new MP4 of just the range you ask for. Send start: 0 and duration of 15 or less, and audio: "drop" if you want a silent file. The job reserves up to $0.02 per job.

  • duration must be 0.2–900 seconds, and exactly one of end or duration is allowed.
  • output can set width, height (256–2160 each) and fps (24, 25, 30 or 60) on the way out, with the default exact precision only.
  • There is no public upload for a file on your computer, so footage you shot on a phone can't be trimmed this way.

What should I check before uploading?

  • The length is between 3 and 15 seconds.
  • The file is under 100 MB and in one of Etsy's listed types; MP4 is on the list.
  • The product in the clip matches the item you sell. Look at the whole clip, not just the first frame.
  • Nothing important is carried by the sound, because Etsy removes it.
