How to delete my data from an AI tool, and what stays

To delete your data from an AI tool, use two routes: delete the account in the tool's settings, and send a deletion request under its privacy policy for what it stores, such as uploads, generated files and chat history. Deleting the account and deleting the stored data are not always the same thing, so do both. On Sume, Settings has Delete Account, and the Privacy Policy says to email dev@sume.com for data Sume holds.

The steps and limits below are quoted from the Sume Privacy Policy (last updated September 13, 2026) and the Sume app, read 2026-09-29. Where current code matters, it says so. This is what the policy says, not legal advice.

How do I delete my Sume account?

In Settings, Delete Account is described as "Permanently delete your Sume account and associated data." The confirmation asks "Delete your Sume account permanently?" and warns "This cannot be undone."

In current code, the button deletes your user at Sume's sign-in provider and signs you out; Sume's account webhook has no step for a deleted user, so the button alone does not erase stored media or records. Send the email request below as well if you want stored files removed.

Removing a generated video or image from your asset list is not deletion either. In current code it hides the item for you and does not delete the underlying job or billing records.

How do I ask Sume to delete stored data?

Email dev@sume.com. The policy's link pre-fills the subject "Meta data deletion request", but the same request can concern your wider Sume account. You can email even if you no longer have access to Sume.

• Sume may need to verify your identity and authority over the data first, particularly for a shared workspace.
• It acknowledges the request, asks for anything it needs, and reports completion or an update in the same email conversation.
• For status, reply to that conversation and refer to your original request.

What does a deletion request not cover?

The policy sets these limits:

• It does not authorize deletion of other users' data or all shared-workspace content. In an organization you didn't create, an administrator controls the workspace and may retain or remove its content after you leave.
• It concerns data held by Sume, not copies held independently by others.
• Deletion is not a promise of immediate removal from every backup or service provider's systems.
• Sume retains information as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, investigate abuse, and maintain security.

Does revoking access or disconnecting delete my data?

No. The policy says Disconnect on an integration stops Sume from using it but does not delete historical chats or stored tool results. Revoking an authorized Sume MCP client does not by itself delete historical records either. Still do it before you leave, so nothing keeps running or spending:

• Revoke API keys from the API keys page. After that a request with the key is refused with 401 (see Authentication).
• Revoke authorized MCP clients.
• Pause or delete scheduled runs and automations from the Agents surface.

What about files I already shared?

Sume's docs say a durable output URL is a public URL: anyone who has it can fetch it (see Embed a Format). Copies people downloaded are outside any deletion request. List the specific files you want removed in your email. Do AI-generated video URLs expire? explains which Sume links last.

How long does deletion take?
