Can Claude make videos for free? What each plan allows
Claude outputs text on every plan. Free can add one video tool as a connector, but the tool bills each clip, so the videos themselves aren't free.
Not for free. Claude's models output text on every plan, so a video has to come from a tool Claude calls. Any Claude plan, Free included, can add a remote MCP connector for that, with Free limited to one, but the video tool bills each clip. The connection is available on Free; the videos are paid.

Which Claude plans can make videos?
All of them, through a connector. Anthropic says all current models support "text and image input, text output", and that custom connectors using remote MCP are available on Claude, Cowork, and Claude Desktop for users on every plan in the table.
- On Free, the one-connector limit is Anthropic's rule. If your one custom connector is already in use, there's no room for a second.

How much does a video cost from Claude?
Your Claude plan doesn't pay for it. On Sume, generate_video is a paid tool billed to your Sume wallet, and routed video models are priced at the provider's list price × 1.25, plus a 5.5% agent fee by default. A 10-second 720p clip costs $0.13 to $5.82 depending on the model; How much does an AI video cost? shows the math. The same holds on Pro and Max: a bigger Claude plan doesn't include clips.
Can I connect without being able to spend?
Yes, and it is the default. When you sign in, Sume's consent page shows Read locked on and Write off. Under OAuth with only mcp:read, mutating and paid tools are hidden and return insufficient_scope, so Claude can browse your account but can't start a paid job. Turn Write on only when you want Claude to generate.
